Thermal Models for Optocouplers

Thermal behavior of your Optocoupler is a key to optimal design

There are three methods to manage thermal energies when designing in an optocoupler:  a thermal derating number, a derating graph, or a thermal model.  We have just published an application note that does a deep dive into the use of a Superposition Thermal Model to create safety derating curves that are found in our datasheets.  It makes for some very interesting reading.
